The news spread by Yahoo Sport, the Brazilian star Neymar has agreed to join Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and the the French club will pay his £196 million release clause sound quite unbelievable. Various media reported that PSG will hold talks with Barcelona this week, trying to work out a Neymar move to Paris.
Various media sources “reported” that Neymar has been offered an annual salary of €30 million by Paris Saint-Germain. However, it is very likely that the “news” about Neymar’s transfer is just the latest high profile football transfer speculation, distributed by the media?
The Brazilian news outlet Esporte Interativo suggested that Neymar, who won La Liga and Champions League with the Catalan club, would consider move to PSG or another big club to play more central role, rather than being just one of the Messi-Neymar-Suarez trio. Within the last decade all Barcelona and Real Madrid players have been shadowed by Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. It is believed that Neymar would like to be considered as a prospective winner of Ballon d’Or, something which is less likely to happen, if he continues playing alongside Messi in Barcelona.
Still the “reports” about a Neymar leaving Barcelona, look like just another rumor, similar to those about Cristiano Ronaldo leaving Real Madrid.
As anyone would expect, Barca officials have denied that Neymar will be leaving the club this summer. The club’s Vice President Jordi Mestre has told the Spanish media that he is “200 percent” sure that Neymar will play at Camp Nou next season.
French media and the L’Equipe in particular, are skeptical about a possible Neymar’s move to Paris. L’Equipe suggests that PSG are not interested in entering into a new round of negotiations with Neymar, something they have done last summer, just to be discouraged by the player’s representatives.
Like every summer transfer window, the current one has been turned very much into a soap opera. The Neymar’s episode has begun this week with the Barcelona-based edition Sport publishing a story, which has suggested that “sources close to Neymar” told the media that he is not happy with the fact that he has somehow been shadowed by Messi and Luis Suarez last season.
The French media have recently reported that Barcelona are interested to sign Marco Verrati, but PSG refused to sell him.
