The Manchester United forward Anthony Martial has been told by Jose Mourinho has told that he needs to be more consistent. This has immediately risen speculations that Martial would be either used as a part of the deal for the Ivan Pericis between United and Inter Milano.
According to various pundits and football experts the 21-year-old Martial has played below the expectations since his £36 million move to Manchester from Monaco in 2015.
“He is a young player. He still has time to learn, to improve and develop. We want more consistency in his talent”, said Mourinho about Martial and added “I can say he is training better than before and is working harder than before”.
Anthony Martial has created the chance for Jesse Lingard to score the first-half opener in the Manchester United friendly against Real Madrid in Santa Clara, which finished 1-1. After the game Lingard has praised Martial and told Man United’s website that he hopes to see more of the same from his fellow forward in 2017/18, after.
“It was great! Anthony’s got great feet when it comes to close control and he’s got the confidence to do it in a game. It’s a nightmare for defenders. Luckily I’ve got myself into space at the back post, got away from my man and then put it away”, said Jesse Lingered. He added that it is difficult to know what tactics and what formation a team like Real Madrid would use when they change the team and explained that Man United had to adapt to the changes Real made in the second half. The game eventually went to penalties. Martial himself was one of the players who took a penalty and missed.
“He’s only going to get better. He’s still young and if he carries on with that confidence in the next few games and throughout the season, he’ll help us a lot”, was Lingard’s comment on his team mate.
Meanwhile, the Italian media reported that sources closed to Inter revealed that the Milano based club wants Anthony Martial toe become a part of the Ivan Perisic deal.
Manchester United are believed to be close to bringing the Croatian midfielder to Old Trafford, but Inter have been unwilling to accept any bid lower than £50 million.
Corriere dello Sport reported that Antony Martial would be a key to the Perisic transfer as the Inter manager Luciano Spalletti wants to bring new players who can improve his team performance on the flanks. The Nerazzurri are believed to be have told United that they are willing to take Antony Martial as a part of the deal, something that will lower the Perisic price.
Meanwhile, a number of football reporters and pundits expressed opinions that Jose Mourinho has been depreciating Antony Martial;s role in the Man united team and it is much better to give Martial game time and to develop him rather than signing the Ivan Perisic from Inter. Pundits point attention to Martial’s pace and great dribbling skills, which he has demonstrated on various occasions for Manchester United.
However, Jose Mourinho wants players who are much more consistent in pressing the opponents, rather than those like Martial who are capable of creating havock in the other sides’ defences, but at the same time look a bit idle for a long periods during the games.
