Dimitar’s Premier League predictions: A match week that defines the season for many clubs

It is a very important Premier League weekend, one that can change the course of the season for many teams. Liverpool, Burnley, West Ham, Crystal Palace, Watford, Arsenal, Swansea, Huddersfield Town, Brighton and Everton – 3 points are vital for any of those teams. It is going to be an exciting match-week from the fist moment with …

Liverpool vs Manchester United

I have said something about this game in the COL article “Jose’s United first big test“. United look confident at the moment and are going into this game knowing that even a loss wouldn’t derail their title challenge. Alternatively, it’s the total opposite for Liverpool. All the pressure will be on them as it is a must-win game for Jürgen Klopp, one that can keep them at the top-end of the table.

The Reds have lost Mane to injury and this has probably presented Oxlade-Chamberlain with an opportunity to play. Liverpool’s best game plan is to attack and they will try to do that. Jose Mourinho’s United side play cautious football and their mission would be to outplay Liverpool in midfield and will wait on Klopp’s side to make defensive mistakes, which they tend to do a lot. Prove me wrong, but I think that United are better prepared for this game…unless Liverpool totally outperform them. Everything is possible and again Man United look the better side at the moment, but I’ll go for the team that needs the points.

Liverpool to win: 2:1

Burnley vs West Ham

What a terrific start to the season for The Clarets. If they win this one, they will have 15 points from their first 8 games, a magnificent achievement. What’s more, they can also enter the top 4. However, West Ham feel comfortable at Turf Moor, where their last meetings have seen them win 3 and draw one since 2012. The Hammers are improving slowly and this away fixture is a good opportunity for them against a team who has played 3 games at home and scored just once.

West Ham to win: 1:2

Crystal Palace vs Chelsea

I don’t believe in this Crystal Palace side at the moment. Everything is wrong there, starting with the club’s management. They have got the wrong coach and will pay the price for their poor judgement. I feel for Palace fans who are one of the best in the country. They deserve much more! I don’t think that Chelsea will miss the opportunity to win 3 points. It would be a miracle if Palace hold the Blues to a draw. However, despite that, Chelsea will be without Alvaro Morata and N’Golo Kante meaning Palace could score their first goal of the season.

Chelsea to win: 1:3

Manchester City vs Stoke City

It is hard to go against this Man City team. They are stable in defence and clinical in front of goal, even without the injured Sergio Agüero. Stoke City could try to close the space down for the Sky Blues midfield and strikers and if they succeed, they will give Pep Guardiola a hard time. However, I think this is going to be a routine win at the Etihad.

Man City to win: 2:0

Swansea City vs Huddersfield Town

It is a good opportunity for the Swans to win against a team which is not much better than them. These two sides haven’t played against each other for almost 10 years, so they just don’t know each other’s game plan. I have a feeling that Huddersfield will not lose this one. They look good in defense and that is a very important aspect for success in the Premier League.

Draw: 1:1

Tottenham Hostspur vs AFC Bournemouth

Come on you Spurs. No, I’m not a Tottenham fan, I’m just saying that it is a time for Spurs to win at their temporary home ground. They have played three games at Wembley so far this season, lost two and drawn one. Not this time! Surely Mauricio Pochettino can get off the mark here? Especially against a side who have been dismal away from home this season.

Tottenham to win: 2:1

Watford vs Arsenal

What a game! It will be on TV and it will be a good one to watch. It is very likely that we’d see more than 4 goals and despite the fact that “Marco Silva brings shine to intriguing Watford“, I think Arsenal will win at Vicarage Road. It’ll be a tense affair, especially seeing as how good Silva has organised his side at home, barring that defeat to Man City, they will make it very tough for the Gunners.

Arsenal to win: 2:3

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Everton

Everton have a squad that should be winning against any team that are supposed to finish in the bottom half of the table. Brighton are supposed to be fighting for survival in the Premier League this season and if they win a point from this home fixture, they’ll be happy about it.

Everton to win: 1:2

Southampton vs Newcastle United

This fixture looks like 3 points won by The Saints. They feel comfortable playing against Newcastle United at home looking back at the history between these two, and will be comfortable again, even if it’s against a Rafael Benitez managed side. Southampton haven’t won at their home ground since 19th of August when they beat West Ham 3:2. At the same time, the last time when Newcastle won an away fixture against Saints was is September 2004.

Southampton to win: 2:0

Leicester City vs West Bromwich Albion

The last club Leicester wants to visit them at the moment is West Brom. The Foxes have lost four games against West Brom at home and drawn one since 2009. This Tony Pulis’-led West Brom look stable and are probably destined for a finish on or around 10th place in the Premier League this season. The Foxes need to start winning at home to avoid another turbulent Premier League season, and I think they’ll do just that.

Leicester to win: 1:0
