This Premier League weekend cannot change a lot at the top side of the table. So, for all the top side clubs it is all about progressing towards their goals. It is a bit different at the bottom where the relegation zone could be reshaped after November 5th.
Stock City vs Leicester City
Leicester City haven’t lost a game against Stoke City on the last five occasions when both teams played. The last league game won by the Potters at Britannia Stadium was in 2007 when both sides played in the Championship. It is going to be a close game and all depends of the current form of both sides. Leicester have a new manager who is looking forward to improve their position in the Premier League table.
Huddersfield Town vs West Brom
This one looks to me like a draw. The Terriers are very competitive side, but so it is West Brom. David Wagner team can keep their Premier League status only if they learn how to win against the mid-table teams like the Baggies. Both teams are well organized in the midfield and use every opportunity to go forward. It looks to me the game-wise Huddersfield Town are a better side as they play a better football. When it comes to results, they have a lot ot learn from Tony Pulis, however.
Newcastle vs Bournemouth
When both teams played at St. James’s Park in 2016, Bopurneoumt won by 1:3. This was the season when Newcastle United got relegated into the Championship. In order to keep their top-flight status and to progress under Rafa Benitez, the Magpies must win home fixtures like this. Unlike Bournemouth, Newcastle have been enjoying the season so far. Still, we have to keep in mind that the Cherries played against Manchester City, Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea in their fist ten Premier League fixtures. So, no one should be surprised if the Eddie Howe’s team starts winning points and gets out of the relegation zone.
Newcastle to win: 2:1
Southampton vs Burnley
If the Saints don’t win this game, we would be looking at Burnley as top 6 side at least for a week. Southampton have been surviving in the Premier League despite all the managerial changes within the last 3 seasons. They have sold many of their best players, but managed to find good replacements. There is obviously something in the club’s organization that make the Saints successful mid-table Premier League club. In order to stay there, they must win their home fixtures against teams like Burnley, however. If you place a bet on this game, keep in mind that Sean Dyche’s side have lost only one away fixture. So far this season they won against Chelsea and Everton and drew against Tottenham and Liverpool.
Southampton to win: 2:1
Swansea City vs Brighton and Hove Albion
I think that the Swans will win this home fixture. If the loose it, it is very likely that they’d get relegated at the end of the season. It just works like that in the Premier League – if you win against direct competitors you stay top, if not you go down. It is as simple as that. Swansea play good football and played against tough opponents so far this season – Man United, Tottenham and Arsenal. The problem for them is that they have lost three home fixtures against Newcastle, Watford and Leicester City. They need to start winning at Liberty Stadium starting from this home fixture.
Swansea to win: 2:1
West Ham vs Liverpool
This is the last Saturday Premier League fixture an it will be broadcasted worldwide. West Ham have complained that they have been a bit unlucky last weekend when Crystal Palace scored a late equalizer into the stoppage time. However, the truth is that the Hammers need a lot of work to become a stable side this season. They have been enjoying their fixtures against Liverpool within the last three seasons, despite that last season 0:4 home loss. I think that the Jurgen Klopp’s side will win at London Stadium this Saturday if they don’t make a lot of defensive mistakes. They are much better side than West Ham at the moment and will win this match.
Liverpool to win: 1:3
Tottenham Hotspur vs Crystal Palace
Spurs are flying high after their Champions League home win against Real Madrid. I should be predicting an easy win for them at Wembley on Sunday. However, the reality is a bit different. They will need to play a totally different football on Sunday against Crystal Palace. If the Palace manager Roy Hodgson has anything to offer, it is experience. He knows that he must disrupt Tottenham passing and to slow them in the midfield. So if Crystal Palace play in the counter attack and defend well, they will give Spurs hard time. They have been lucky against West Ham last week and now the Hodgson’s team needs more than that against Tottenham.
Manchester City vs Arsenal
Looking into this fixture, Arsenal should be both afraid and excited. If they win it, they will be in the title race. If they draw it, they will be a top 4 side. So it is a big challenge for the Gunners, who have a team capable of winning against anyone. Arsene Wenger just needs to choose the right tactics and his players must be patient at Etihad. They should not try to outplay Manchester City, who are a very strong team in a great form at the moment. For Arsenal it will be all about avoiding defensive mistakes and closing the spaces in the midfield. The Gunners have a good record at Etihad, despite this 6:3 loos in 2013. Pep Guardiola has said few weeks ago that Man City cannot win all the games this season and will drop some points. This could be one of those fixtures. I’ll tip Arsenal to draw this one.
Chelsea vs Manchester United
There is a lot to analyse when it comes to Chelsea and Man United this season. Both Conte and Mourinho have strong teams, who at the same time lack the energy that Manchester City have. Both Chelsea and Man std can trash any team and loose against anyone. Both managers play a defensive-minded football and want their sides to be solid in the back. This Stamford Bridge fixture could be an exiting game to watch, if both teams choose to attack a lot. It could be also a boring one, if they put defensive performances.
Everton vs Watford
The Hornets visit to Goodison Park comes at the worst possible moment. Everton look like a broken team and to be honest I have no idea why they keep loosing games. It looks like that all the money spent this summer haven’t brought quality or just the Toffees have to replace their whole defence, which sounds impossible to me. It is a must win game for them, but I don’t see Watford loosing.
