There is no real competition for the Premier League title at the moment, as Man City city alone on top and keep winning their games. So, the fight of the top side of the table is now about the Champions League places. This weekend all eyes are on Arsenal vs Manchester United, a game that promises to be very interesting. If Arsenal win it, the Gunners’ fan should admit that they have been very harsh against Arsene Wenger. Anyway, here are our Premier League weekend predictions.
Chelsea vs Newcastle United
On paper this should be a home win and there isn’t very much to analyze. Antotion Conte can rely to the in-form Willian, Eden Hazard, Pedro, Cesc Fabregas and Morata and even has a selection headache on who should be starting the games. Newcastle is a team which is hard to predict this season as Rafael Benitez does not have the players he needs to play at the high level, he was used to in his previous clubs. Still the Magpies can surprise anyone, if they have a good day.
Chelsea to win: 2:0
Brighton & Hove Albion vs Liverpool
If Liverpool score, they will be good even with their current unstable defence. With in form Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, Liverpool only need Philippe Coutinho alongside them to improve the passing and to drive good balls forward. Like Antonio Conte, Jurgen Klopp also has to choose among excellent offensive players. However, he simply doesn’t;’t have the same quality Chelsea have on the back. If Reds had it, they be on top with Manchester City.
Brighton are very competitive side and it is very likely that they keep performing at the same level, which would result in finishing the season in the middle of the table. it will be a great achievement for them, wouldn’t it? I think that Liverpool will win at the American Express stadium, but it is going to be very tough game for them.
Liverpool to win: 1:2
Everton vs Huddersfield Town
The appointment of Sam Allardyce as Everton manEager should be very disappointing to those Everton fans who wanted to see their club progressing. What a misjudgment of the Everton’s owners? How could they justify replacing someone like Ronald Koeman with someone like Sam Allardyce? No disrespect to the “Big Sam”, I’ll tip his Toffees to win against Huddersfield, but he is simply not the manager that Everton need, They should have stocked with David Unsworth who has done a great job as interim manager at Goodison Park.
Allardyce could probably improve the Everton’s defence and learn them t to play long balls. As a result of that Everton fans should not have worries about getting relegated, at least not this season. This is the biggest club in Allardyce managerial career and he will find out how hard is to manage it.
Everton to win: 2:1
Leicester City vs Burnley
Claude Puel’s appointment at King Power Stadium started paying off. He has improved the Foxes and they not just play an entertaining football, but also started winning points. Great for the 2015/16 Premier League champions. Their fans will see the team playing better football now, compared to the title winning season.
Burnley will give Leicester hard time on Saturday afternoon and they are obviously capable of getting a point or even win on any Premier League stadium this season. However, I still think that Leicester will win this fixture. All they need to do is to control the game and not to make a lot of defensive mistakes.
Leicester to win: 1:0
Stoke City vs Swansea City
Stoke should win this home fixture against direct opponent at the bottom of the table. If they do it they will look safe. However, Swansea are improving slowly, which is something they need to do in order to keep they hope for Premier League survival. Three points at bet365 stadium will be a great achievement for the Welsh team. I think that they could win this fixture.
Swansea to win: 1:2
Watford vs Tottenham Hotspur
Spurs should win this game against the very well organized Marco Silva team. Hornets are enjoying this Premier League season so far, while Tottenham have their ups and downs. Thirty days ago Spurs have totally outperformed Real Madrid at Wembley. Since then, they lost 2:0 to Arsenal at Emirates, drawn 1:1 at Wembley against West Brom and lost on their visit to Leicester City. This away fixture against Hornets is a must win for them!
Tottenham to win: 1:2
West Bromwich Albion vs Crystal Palace
It is interesting to see what Alan Pardew could do for West From. It looks to me that it might not be that easy to for him to transform their game. Pardew faces Palace a club which he is emotionally connected with. There is not much space left for sentiments in the Premier League these days, however. Palace have already improved their performances, won some points and they will give West From a fight.
West Brom to win: 1:0
Arsenal vs Manchester United
Arsenal will find themselves just 1 point away for the second place in the table if they beat Manchester United at home. It is interesting how Jose Mourinho will play at Emirates. He might decide to play safe, to try to disrupt the Gunners passing in the center and to count on his wingers to deliver some balls to Lucku and/or Ibrahimovic. It might work!?
It will be very important for the inform Gunners to score the first goals, sometime which will force Man united to attack and to leave more spaces for the Arsenal strikers.
AFC Bournemouth vs Southampton
This is a very important fixture for Bournemouth after their midweek home loss against Burnley. On the other side, Southampton are capable of winning this game. They have been very unfortunate to consider a late goal in the stoppage time against Manchester City at Etihad. It looks to me that they would not loose against the Cherries.
Southampton to win: 1:2
Manchester City vs West Ham United
Everton welcomed David Moyes at Goodison Park with 4 goals. This rises the question how bad is West Ham, if Everton who have been a really poor side within the last 2 months have managed to score 4 past Joe Hart. I think that Moyes will find it very difficult to bring back West Ham to safety and it is very likely that he’d loose his job there. I wish him well, but after their visit to Manchester the Hammers play against Chelsea and Arsenal at London stadium before visiting Stoke and playing against Newcastle, Bournemouth and Tottenham by the end of the year. They would probably win some points, but not on this visit to Manchester. Joe Hart is coming back to Etihad and I don’t think that he will have good 90 minutes there.
Man City to win: 3:0
