Championship Predictions: Cardiff to win? Preston and Wolves to split points?

Few clubs are still playing in FA cup, but others will work hard to get more points in Championship. Fulham will have a hard time trying to continue their good run against Aston Villa at home, and Bristol City will have an away game against Leeds United. Bolton and Birmingham are both having a good chance of winning again as they are looking to get away from relegation zone places.

Birmingham vs Millwall

Millwall hasn’t lost any of their last five games, but Birmingham can be a tough opponent when they play at home. They are fighting for survival and they have to win games like this. Although they are struggling to score, Millwall is not so good in finding a back of the net away from home too. Millwall has a better squad, but when they in away games their performance in not so great and Birmingham is having a better chance of winning.

Birmingham to win: 1-0

Burton vs Nottingham Forest

When it comes to the games from which you shouldn’t expect too many goals, this one sounds like one of those. I don’t know if that’s Karanka and his style of play, but Nottingham Forest is struggling to score lately. Burton needs a win, but they don’t posses enough quality to get all three points and they have won only two games at home this season. However, they can easily get a point as both sides can struggle to find a back of the net lately.

Draw: 0-0

Cardiff vs Middlesbrough

Another game with not too many goals will be played in Cardiff. Both sides are playing defensive football, but Middlesbrough will probably rely on their defence more. They have won their last game against Reading with Adama Traore finding his form and scoring twice, and his ability to run fast can be a key factor when it comes to the counter. Cardiff is having well organized defence, and when they play at home, they are capable of stoping these counter attacks successfully. Middlesbrough on the other side is having a good defence, but they are struggling to keep a clean sheet lately.

Cardiff to win: 1-0

Fulham vs Aston Villa

Most interesting match in this gameweek will probably be this one. Both clubs are in amazing form, Fulham is unbeaten in their last 9 games, while Aston Villa has won 7 of their last matches. In some way, they are direct opponents too, as Fulham is fighting for a straight promotion and Aston Villa is second at a moment. Defensively, Aston Villa is a better side, but Fulham has been amazing against sides that are good in defence. It is expected for both clubs to score, but a draw should be the most likely result.

Draw: 1-1

Preston vs Wolves

There can be a surprise here! Preston is fighting for play-offs, and although their performance at home wasn’t so great so far, Wolves had a few bad results lately and their form can be tested again on Saturday. For some reason, I expect a lot of goals from this one, Preston will give their best to win, and for winning against such a strong side, they need to score more than once. However, it’s hard not to concede against Wolves, so they can easily concede as many as they score.

Draw: 2-2

QPR vs Bolton

Bolton needs a win, but can they get it? Hardly! They have won only one away game so far, while QPR has been good only at home this season. This is a big chance for Bolton, but they just don’t look prepared to win here. Conor Washington scored against Wolves, and Matt Smith is in good form too, it will be a hard challenge for Bolton’s defence to stop at least one of them from scoring.

QPR to win: 2-0

Sunderland vs Brentford

Easy task for Brentford, really. If they win, they can still fight for play-offs and an away game against Sunderland is the perfect opportunity for that. Sunderland is awful at home this season, they struggle to score, they struggle to keep their opponent from scoring. They maybe don’t concede too many, as Brentford’s striker are not so consistent, but it will be hard challenge for their defence to keep a clean sheet.

Brentford to win: 0-2

Norwich vs Ipswich

There will be two games on Sunday, and first one is between Norwich and Ipswich. Norwich is good away, Ipswich is good at home. Norwich is struggling to score, Ipswich is scoring quite enough. Two different styles of play, but both clubs will probably score. It is hard to say if any side is good enough to win a game like this, but Ipswich is always trying to go for a win. And in game like this, side with a better attack will probably win have a better chances of winning.

Ipswich to win: 1-2

Leeds vs Bristol City

Leeds is falling apart, they haven’t won their last seven games and their manager got sacked. Bristol City needs points as they are trying to get back in fight for a second spot. Famara Diedhiou has been excellent in combination with Bobby Reid, and for Leeds United and their defence, it would be hard to stop them from scoring. Bristol City can completely rely on their attack, as Leeds is in amazingly awful form.

Bristol City to win: 0-2
