When it comes to fight for play-offs, this matchweek will be quite entertaining. Bristol City will have a tough game against Cardiff, and Middlesbrough and Preston will all have easy games. It will be fun to watch what happens at a bottom too, as too many clubs are fighting for survival at a moment.
Birmingham vs Barnsley
This is a fight at a bottom of Championship. These clubs are direct opponents and both teams will see this game as a big opportunity to get three points. However, Birmingham is having a much better chance of winning. They are quite good at home this season and they are currently in better form than Barnsley. For Birmingham the biggest challenge will be to find a back of the net, but since Barnsley’s defence has been terrible this season, they are having a good chance to score.
Birmingham to win: 1-0
Burton vs Millwall
Another club that is fighting for survival will be facing Millwall this Saturday. Burton has got an away win against Barnsley on Tuesday, and that can be a big boost for an upcoming event. However, Millwall is undefeated in their last seven games, and although their away performance is not so good, they will work hard to continue their good run. Both clubs will probably score, but the draw should be the most likely outcome.
Leeds vs Brentford
With Samuel Saiz getting back for Leeds United, this shouldn’t be such an easy game for Brentford. Of course, Brentford is in better form, but Leeds will play at home after a good result against Derby County. This should be quite an entertaining game with lot of goals and lot of excitement. Leeds has finished their last two games with a result 2-2, and since Brentford is conceding as much as they score, that can easily be the case again on Saturday.
Norwich vs Bolton
After a draw against Wolves, Bolton should be an easy opponent for Norwich. They are in fine form lately as they’ve lost only one of their last ten matches. Bolton on the other side is having a hard time getting any points away from home. They are struggling to score and they concede too many. With young James Maddison and Nelson Oliveira being in great form for Norwich this season, Bolton will struggle not to concede again.
Norwich to win: 2-0
Preston vs Ipswich
Ipswich has been fine this season, but their performance is good only when they play at home. Their defence is not organized too well, while Preston has been solid in defence. Preston had a hard schedule lately, but now they have an easy game and opportunity to get a play-off spot. They will give their best to win, and by any means they have been a better side so far.
Preston to win: 1-0
QPR vs Nottingham Forest
As I predicted, Nottingham Forest got a point in both of their last two matches. However, this time it will be harder for them to achieve that. Their away performance has not been good enough so far to get a good result against team that has been excellent at home this season. QPR is not fighting for play-offs anymore, but they want to avoid relegation battle. They are in better form than Nottingham Forest, and they have won at home against far better sides.
QPR to win: 1-0
Reading vs Derby
Problems for Jaap Stam again. They are not safe yet and they are certainly not good enough to find a win against Derby County. John Swift is still injured, and without him they are always struggling to find a back of the net. Derby on the other side needs a win, they had too many draws recently and in order to continue their fight for second place they need to win as soon as possible. Both Matej Vydra and David Nugent failed to score in their last match against Leeds United, but still it will be a hard challenge for Reading’s defence to keep them from finding a back of the net.
Derby to win: 0-2
Sheffield Wednesday vs Aston Villa
Let’s not forget that Sheffield Wednesday won against Derby County recently. But Aston Villa lost points against Preston in their last game and they need a win to continue chasing a straight promotion. Although they have injury problems, Aston Villa is still well organized in defence and they have quite a few options in attack. For Sheffield Wednesday’s defence, it will be hard to stop Robert Snodgrass, and if Lewis Grabban gets a chance to play, he might score again on Saturday.
Aston Villa to win: 0-2
Sunderland vs Middlesbrough
Middlesbrough certainly has a better squad, but these two teams play similar style of football. Sunderland is struggling to win at home and they may struggle to find a back of the net on Saturday again. For Middlesbrough, a win with a clean sheet can be a big boost for the team, and since they are still chasing play-offs, they will give their best to win on Saturday. Rudy Gestede scored twice in their last game, and since he will probably start again, Sunderland will have a trouble keeping him from scoring.
Middlesbrough to win: 0-1
Fulham vs Wolves
When you look at last 15 games, Fulham had better results than Wolves. In their last game against Bristol City, their new signings Cyrus Christie and Aleksandar Mitrovic has played amazing, with Christie assisting for Mitrovic’s goal. Fulham has won all of their last five home matches, while Wolves have struggled in away games. It is hard to predict a game like this, but Fulham is playing excellent lately, they are chasing a second spot and they play at home.
Fulham to win: 1-0
Cardiff vs Bristol City
Another big game will be played on Sunday. Cardiff will face Bristol City at home, and in order to secure their second spot they need a win. Bristol City is in bad form lately, they have played better against Fulham, but they still haven’t won in February. Cardiff on the other side is unbeaten in their last seven matches, they are excellent at home and they have won against far better sides than Bristol City. This might look like a hard game for Cardiff, but since Bristol City is in awful form lately, this should be an easy win for home side.
Cardiff to win: 2-0
