It’s 11 gameweeks until the end of the season and the real fight starts now. Nothing is certain yet, there is still fight for play-offs, there is still fight for second spot, Wolves have not secured their first place yet and nothing is over at a bottom too. Some amazing games are in front of us, and maybe this year Championship can give us more excitement than we thought.
Birmingham vs Middlesbrough
What a perfect moment to appoint Garry Monk? Birmingham’s new manager will have his first game against his former club – Middlesbrough. This great young manager now have a task to save Birmingham from relegation, and to do so, he needs to get them on the winning run. However, Middlesbrough has quite better squad, they have better results and they are chasing play-offs. Patrick Bamford scored a hat-trick against Leeds on Friday, and striker has a point to prove since Garry Monk wasn’t giving him too much gametime. Although new manager is always a new hope, Middlesbrough is just a better team at a moment.
Middlesbrough to win: 0-2
Burton vs Brentford
It’s hard for Brentford, but they are still chasing play-offs. Their away performance is alright and Burton is awful at home. It’s a tough time to play against teams in relegation zone since this is the part of the season when they pull most surprises. However, Burton does not possess enough quality to compete against teams like Brentford, their biggest chance might be winning against direct opponents. Since Brentford has lost their last game against Leeds, they need to go for a win, it will be a hard challenge, but they are good in attack while Burton is struggling to score.
Brentford to win: 0-1
Cardiff vs Barnsley
Again, it’s a tough time to play against teams at a bottom, but with their recent form, it’s hard to imagine Cardiff getting anything but win from this one. They are well organized in defence, and their attack is magnificent lately. They don’t score too many, but they score enough to get all three points from almost every game recently. Kenneth Zohore is excellent for Cardiff this season, he scored only six, but he is a great team player with a lot of assists. It will be hard for Barnsley’s defence to keep him from scoring.
Cardiff to win: 2-0
Fulham vs Sheffield United
Another hard challenge for Fulham. They have beaten Aston Villa, Wolves and Derby County, but getting a win against Sheffield United will still be a hard task. However, they have won all of their last 8 home games, and it looks like Aleksandar Mitrovic and Ryan Sessegnon are forming a great partnership. Fulham conceded only five in their last ten matches, their defence is well organized and it will be hard for Sheffield United to find a back of the net. Although this might be a hard game for Fulham, they are in amazing form and they have quite better chance of winning.
Fulham to win: 2-0
Hull vs Millwall
Hull is getting some good results lately, they are giving their best to stay away from relegation zone and they will work hard to get a good result against Millwall too. However, Millwall is in amazing form, they haven’t lost their last 9 games and they might have a chance to fight for play-offs. Both teams are fighting to win, and both teams will probably score, but it is hard to say if any of these two sides has a better chance to win.
Norwich vs Nottingham Forest
These two sides look quite equal, they have similar style of play and they have similar amount of points. Their form is similar and while Norwich is bad at home, Nottingham Forest is having a hard time getting away wins. This game simply does not promises a lot of goals and both teams might even manage to keep a clean sheet as they are both better in defence then they are in attack.
Preston vs Bristol City
Here we have a good one! Direct opponents are fighting for a play-off spot, and although Preston is in better form lately, their home performance is not so great. Bristol City, on the other side, had a 4-0 win against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, which can be a big boost since they’ve not only scored four, but they’ve also kept a clean sheet. To keep a clean sheet against Preston will be a tough challenge, but Bobby Reid scored a hat-trick against Sheffield Wednesday and he can easily continue that form and score more than once against Preston.
Bristol City to win: 1-2
QPR vs Derby
Derby County needs to get back on tracks, they started to concede a lot and they are losing their chance of getting a straight promotion. This is not only a must win game, but they have to organize their defence and keep a clean sheet. QPR is a hard opponent for that, especially when they play at home, but Derby’s defence kept a clean sheet against far better sides this season. Derby is not having a problem finding a back of the net, Matej Vydra is still in great form and it will be hard for QPR’s defence to keep him from scoring again. What Gary Rowett needs to do, is organizing his defence and letting them know that their mistakes can cost them promotion.
Derby to win: 0-2
Sheffield Wednesday vs Ipswich
Well, Sheffield Wednesday played on Saturday, while Ipswich had their game postponed. Ipswich has won against Preston in their last game, and sometimes that kind of a win can be a big boost for the team. They are in better form then Sheffield Wednesday, and their away performance is getting better lately. Sheffield Wednesday is struggling to score, and since Ipswich is not finding a back of the net often too, this game is not promising a lot of goals.
Ipswich to win: 0-1
Sunderland vs Aston Villa
Sunderland is having a hard time finding a win, while Aston Villa is in excellent form. They are well organized in defence, and although they are having a big injury list, they are still having some good options in attack. Lewis Grabban and Scott Hogan are both fit to play, and it will be hard for Sunderland’s defence to keep at least one of them from scoring. Although they need a win, Sunderland will probably try to get only a point as they are not so good in attack, but it will be hard for them to keep a clean sheet against Aston Villa.
Aston Villa to win: 0-1
Reading vs Bolton
John Swift is back for Reading and although he hasn’t started in last three matches, he should start against Bolton as Reading needs to win. They have a game in hand and Bolton is their direct opponents. Bolton is awful away from home, they have won only one game so far and Reading is having a good chance to finally find a win. Both clubs will probably score, but Reading has a better chance of winning.
Reading to win: 2-1
Leeds vs Wolves
The only game with TV coverage will be played once again on Wednesday. This time, Leeds will play against Wolves. Both clubs are in bad form lately, but Wolves are having much better results. Leeds United is having Samuel Saiz back, but their counter attacking style of football doesn’t seem to get them enough wins. Wolves possess more quality, their defence is much better, and their attack should find a back of the net against Leeds after they failed to do that against Fulham.
Wolves to win: 0-2
