There are seven games (six for some teams) until the end of the this years’s Premier League. Manchester City are destined to become champions and they can do it this weekend. They can also start loosing points and make the final 7 games, which will decide how top of the table will look like very interesting. Will City slip in their home game against Manchester United after the 3:0 Champions League loss at Anfield. I don’t think that this will happen!
Everton vs Liverpool
People might think that Liverpool are living a dream season in the Champions League and are having a good one in the Premier League. Well, it is too early to project success for the Reds. Their squad is depleted and Jurgen Klopp simply does not have enough top players on the bench. So the Reds fans should be sweating on Mohamed Salah fitness and to hope that there will be no other injuries in the squad until the end of the season. Everton have nothing to loose and nothing to play for this weekend. This makes them a very dangerous opponent in the Merseyside derby.
The Toffies need to win a game against their local rivals and Sam Allardyce knows that if he wins this game agains Liverpool he will be in a very strong position to stay at Goodison Park for another season. Jurgen Klopp must decided on whether to rest some players before the second leg Champions League clash against Manchester City. However, his side needs points to secure a top 4 finish. It will be an interesting game for the Liverpool fans as they would see Nathaniel Clyne returning to action and a debut for the U21 central defender Conor Masterson.
I would tip Everton to win this fixture, but Liverpool should have enough quality in the squad to get a point.
Bournemouth vs Crystal Palace
Roy Hodgson’s Eagles are without 10 senior players before their trip to Bournemouth. Cristian Benteke will be assessed as he limped out of The Cristal Palace’s Thursday’s training session with a groin problem. Palace’s fans should cross fingers and to wait on Southampton and Stoke City to loos their fixtures if they want to stay safe for another week.
It is a good chance for the Cherries to get to 40 points this weekend and to enjoy the rest of the league campaign.
Bournemouth to win: 1:0
Brighton & Hove Albion vs Huddersfield Town
I think that whoever wins this fixture will stay in the Premier League next season. Brighton look a little bit better team than Huddersfield, but there are only 3 points in between them. Huddersfield play against Watford (away), Everton (home), Manchester City (away), Chelsea (away) and Arsenal (home) until the end of the season, They will either win some big games and decide how top of the table will look like or return into the Championship. Getting a point or even three is a must for the Terriers on their visit to Brighton.
Leicester City vs Newcastle United
Can Newcastle win at Leicester and save their place in the Premier League? I don’t think that Foxes will loose this game. The Magpies should be working hard to get a draw at King Power Stadium.
Leicester to win: 2:0
Stoke City vs Tottenham Hotspur
Stoke look like a Championship side and they will become one if they don’t win against Spurs. However, Tottenham are not at the top of the table at the moment because they have been losing such fixtures. Stoke have some players missing such as Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting (groin), Lee Grant (wrist), Konstantinos Stafylidis (rib) and Charlie Adam.
Tottenham to win: 1:4
Watford vs Burnley
Watford are technically better team than Burnley and this is one of the home games they should win. However, the Clarets have a great composure and are a strong team who have won points even against the top 6 sides this season. I don’t see a reason for a Sean Dyche’s men not to finish on high.
Burnley to win: 1:2
West Bromwich Albion vs Swansea City
It is an excellent chance for the Swans to take advantage of a team which has fallen apart, to win 3 points and to save their place in the Premier League. West Bromwich could win that one, but I don’t trust them.
Swansea to win: 1:2
Manchester City vs Manchester United
Manchester City have been a bit unlucky against Liverpool at Anfield during the midweek;’s Champions League game as they attacked a lot and they would have scored 1 goal. However, if Pep Guardiola’s players should admit that they have been quite predictable in their passing and the y way they moved the ball at Anfield. They have been missing Sergio Aguero at the top. Now the Sky Blues welcome their City Rivals without some key players. It is very likely that Leroy Sane would be rested, as well as few others who played at Anfield.
If Manchester City win the game, they will win the title, something will give them a lot of confidence next week when they welcome Liverpool at Etihad in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final.
Manchester United should feel comfortable going to Etihad this time. There is not pressure on them, despite that a loss would allow Spurs and Liverpool to close the gap to the second place and to demand it. Still, Man Utd players would allow themselves to enjoy the game and try to win it, without playing undeserved pressure.
It is not a clash between Guardiola and Mourinho, as this is a fixture at the end of the season and Manchester city have virtually became a champions. If not this Saturday, they will win the title in any of the following two fixtures. So Pep Guardiola has nothing to prove in this game. It is Mourinho, who needs all the points, but even if his Red Devils loose the game he will be fine.
Arsenal vs Southampton
Arsenal should be winning this fixture against the troubled Saints. However, the Gunners have played on Thursday night and their players did not have enough time to rest. So, it is an opportunity for Southampton. Everyone at Arsenal should be focused on the opportunity to win UEFA Europa League. The Arsenal do it, it will be a huge success for them. It is the second biggest trophy in football and it will send them back to the Champions League.
So, the fans would not go against Arsene Wenger, if he decides to give chance to some of the squad players in this fixture. The 5 places that would give Arsenal a Chance to play in the Europa League next season is not the right target to the Gunners who are trailing Chelsea by 5 points.
Chelsea vs West Ham United
This is a game which neither Chelsea, nor West Ham should be loosing. A lost for the Hammers means that they will be very close to the relegation zone. A loss for Chelsea means that they are staying out of the Champions League next season, something which will be a real blow for the Blues. If Chelsea don’t qualify for the Champions League, they might loose of of their best players.
West Ham will give Antoni Conte’s men a fight for all the points, but I think that Chelsea will end up winning them.
Chelsea to win: 3:1
