It looks to me that the Liverpool’s 100% winning record would end this Saturday and we could have a new leader in the Premier League – Manchester City.
West Ham vs Manchester United
The Hammers improve after recording an away win against Everton and a home draw against Chelsea. Their players have shown that Manuel Pellegrini’s reforms at London Stadium are the right ones. Now, the Hammers could be optimistic when the troubled Manchester United visit the capital.
In any normal circumstances United would be the favorites to win this fixture. Now it all the negative atmosphere around the club, I’m not sure that they will get the three points. It is possible that Jose Mourinho and Pogba would resolve whatever issues they have. United’s players are professionals who are expect f to go out and give their best. But it is not always like that in the real life and Manchester United are definitely not playing the way that most of their players want to do. A win against West Ham will be the best outcome for the Red Devils, but I think that they will need to settle for a draw.
Arsenal vs Watford
This will be a very tough game for the Gunners. In any other stage of the season I would tip Watford to get a point, but this games comes on the back of a 120 minutes the Hornets played against Tottenham in the EFL League Cup. Arsenal are good enough to win this fixture and they must do it if they want silence all their critics. In an article dedicated to Unai Emery’s way of rebuilding the Gunners, I have written that they would find themselves at top 4 at the end of October. It is ongoing mission that requires Arsenal to win at home against Watford.
Arsenal to win: 2:1
Everton vs Fulham
It is time for the Marco Silva’s team to win 3 points and the visit of Fulham is a good occasion. The Slavica Jocanovic led side plays a very good football, but has to improve its defence. Those are one of the must win games for a team like Everton who wants to progress under their new manager.
Everton to win: 2:1
Huddersfield Town vs Tottenham
The Terriers must stay winning point immediately and to start climbing the table in October. If they don’t do that, they are going down. Unfortunately for them, they welcome another team who has a lot to prove and it is a team much better than them. I think that Spurs will simply go and win this game, because if they don’t, they would forget about being a top 4 team working the next 2 or months.
Tottenham to win: 1:3
Manchester City vs Brighton
Brighton can play a good football and if they manage to score, they will give City a hard time. Pep Guardiola’s side has already lost 2 points against Wolves. The Wolves goal should have been disallowed and it is a shame that the Premier League didn’t adopt the VAR technology. I don’t think that City will drop point at home, at least not at the moment.
Manchester City to win: 3:1
Newcastle United vs Leicester City
It is time for the Magpies to win a game and they should do it against a very good Leicester side. The Foxes can play on counter attack and Newcastle must open the scoresheet and control the game, if they want to win it. Leicester won at Wolverhampton in the EFL Cup and I think that they would be a little bit tired at St. James’s park.
Newcastle to win: 2:1
Wolverhampton vs Southampton
I have a lot of admiration for Wolves and they are a team who will only improve over the course of the season. The Mark Hughes led Southampton aren’t that strong as any of the previous Saints’ teams, but they aren’t a bottom table side and I believe that they will be in the safe zone of the Premier League, somewhere between 12th and 16th place. Danny Ings is a great transfer for them. He is both a leader and a very gifted player. Ings has been unlucky with all his injuries within the last 2 seasons and when he was ready to play he would not beat Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, Daniel Sturridge or Sadio Mane for a place in the Liverpool’s starting eleven. He was too good to stay on the bench and I think he would score 10 to 15 goals for the Saints this season.
Wolves to win: 2:1
Chelsea vs Liverpool
This Premier League clash comes on the back of the Chelsea visit to Anfield where they have kicked Liverpool out of the EFL Carabao Cup. Jurgen Klopp will play a totally different side at Stamford Bridge and I’m not sure that Chelsea will make it against the Reds’ starting eleven. The Blues were the better team during the first half at Anfield on Wednesday, but Liverpool have outplayed them in a number of occasions and especially in the second half, despite playing with their reserves.
It is important who will open the score at Stamford Bridge and I think that whoever does it, will win at least a point. If Liverpool loose in London, the Premier League will have a new leader in the likes of Manchester City. But I think that it is too early for that.
Cardiff City bs Burnley
Cardiff must win this game if they want to stay in the Premier League. However, I don’t think they will make it against the Clarets. The Sean Dyche’s men have found their rhythm and scored 4 goals against Bournemouth at Turf Moor. I’m sympathetic to Neil Warnock and his Bluebirds, but it looks to me that they aren’t ready to survive in the Premier League and will be returning to the Championship. I don’t wish them to get relegated and will be excited if Warnock succeeds to keep Cardiff in the English top flight.
AFC Bournemouth vs Crystal Palace
I was surprised to see Bournemouth beaten by 4:0 at Turf Moor. Last season they have drawn twice with Crystal Palace and I think they will do it again. Both teams are good enough not to loose a fixture like this. Palace have the bigger names in their squad, but Bournemouth play a very good football and welcome the Eagles on their home ground.
