This weekend is a big one for both Manchester clubs. After their remarkable win against Juventus in Torino, no Manchester United take on their city rivals.
Cardiff City vs Brighton & Hove Albion
Cardiff City will be without Harry Arter, Jazz Richards and Kenneth Zohore. Pascal Gross and Davy Propper will not play for Brighton.
Brighton have won almost three times the point Cardiff have so far this season. Whatever teams the Welsh side have had to play within the last 11 games, the difference in points won says enough about the current state and quality of both sides. However Brighton won 10 of the 14 point state have at home. They are not a very strong visiting side. For that reason I’m going for a draw.
Huddersfield vs West Ham
Huddersfield finally won against the one team which is probably weaker then they are at this stage of the season. Now they welcome West Ham, am ambitious team who has a lot to prove. The Terriers have won 4 points at home while the Hammers have won 4 on the road. The Hammers won twice last season against Huddersfield. They current form is slightly better than the one of the Terriers and I believe that the Manuel Pellegrini’s menial take a point at Huddersfield.
Leicester City vs Burnley
Leicester City is the better team so far this season and they haven’t lost against Burnley at home within the last 6 competitive games. In the Premier League Leicester won 2 times and drawn one against Burnley. They Clarest are have conceded 13 goals in their last 3 games against Manchester City, Chelsea and West Ham. The fact that they visit Leicester isn’t a good news forth as the Foxes have a very fast strikers and score goals.
Burnley have won 4 points away from home, which isn’t that bad, but their major concern into this game is to keep a clean sheet.
Leicester City to win: 3:1
Newcastle United vs AFC Bournemouth
Newcastle have won their first win for the season at home against a very good team like Watford. Jonjo Shelvey, Jamaal Lascelles and Yoshinori Muto are doubtful for them, but they would probably be available for selection. Bournemouth don’t have injury worries expect Josh King, who might not start at St. James’s Park.
It is a good moment for the Magpies to replicate on their win against Watford. I went against them last week and thought that they will loose against the Hornets. However Rafael Benitez is obviously still capable to get something out of this Newcastle squad. If they win again, they will be out of the relegation zone and could continue playing without being under heavy pressure.
Bournemouth are have won twice at Newcastle – in 1:3 in 2016 and 0:1 2017 scoring 4 goals on their visits to the English North. I would back them to win again.
Bournemouth to win: 1:2
Southampton vs Watford
It is a a must win game for the Saints who need 3 points to stay above the relegation zone. Their current form isn’t good however and they are one of the tow Premier League teams who are still about to win a game at home. Watford have one 2, drawn 1 and lost 2 on the road and they are capable of winning against anyone in the Premier League if they have a good day. They score more than the Saints and their defence is much better than the Southampton’s one. Honestly, the Mark Hughes led team should be happy with a point here.
Wesley Hoedt is doubtful for Southampton. Etienne Capoue will be missing for Watford.
Crystal Palace vs Tottenham Hotspur
Crystal Palace is the other Premier League team who is still about to win at home. Considering the fact that they welcome Tottenham at Selhurst Park it looks to me that the Roy Hodgson team should be happy with a point. I don’t see Spurs dropping points here, however. Of course it is a London derby and anything could happen. But Spurs are much better team and they don’t feel uncomfortable visiting Selhust Park as they have won their last tree games here.
Christian Benteke, Scott Dann, Joel Ward and Connor Wickham are not available for Palace. Mousa Dembele, Eric Dier, Danny Rose, Jan Vertonghen and Vincent Janssen will not be playing for Spurs.
Tottenham to win: 0:2
Liverpool vs Fulham
They way Liverpool played within the first 20 minutes agains Red Star in Belgrade was a bit depreciating for their fans and for the club they represent. The Reds’ players simply allowed the Serbian team to attack them, stayed deep and lacked energy. They are a good team, but they have nothing to do with the last year’s Liverpool who was exciting to watch. Last year, before the start of the games Liverpool fans wondered how many goals will the team score. Now they wonder will the team win and could the Jurgen Klopp’s men keep a clean sheet. I think there is a setback in the team mentality and Jurgen Klopp has to address that if he wants to compete Manchester City for the title.
Fulham are the worst visiting team in he league so far this season and if they cause problems to Liverpool, this would say a lot about the Red’s next games.
Liverpool to win: 3:0
Chelsea FC vs Everton
Everton are not a bad visiting side, but Chelsea are a title contender and this means that the Toffees will probably loose at Stamford Bridge. They have lost 5 time and drawn only once within their last 6 visits to Chelsea’s home ground. Everton is a typical team from the top side of the table, who are capable of winning point on every ground, but no more than that.
Chelsea to win: 2:0
Arsenal vs Wolverhampton Wanderers
I expect Wolves to cause some problems to Arsenal. They can get a result at Emirates, even against the current in-form Gunners. Unai Emery has been doing great solar this season. Considering the fact that Arsenal play on Thursdays in the UEFA Europa League, their results are great. The Gunners are 1 point short of the fourth place and it is not going to be easy for them to finish in the top 4, considering the current form of their local rivals Tottenham. However, they are a good team and they will give it a try.
I have a feeling that Wolves might get a point on their trip to London this weekend, but they aren’t that conniving in their away fixtures and for this reason I’m backing Arsenal to win.
Arsenal to win: 2:1
Manchester City vs Manchester United
Man United’s boss Jose Mourinho hasn’t smiled a lot this season. On many occasions he looked like he has lost his charisma. Mourinho has been negative over the course of the season. He is obviously under pressure, so Manchester United’s players are. This didn’t prevent them to win their Champions League clash with Juventus in Torino, however. The United’s win suggests that whatever the current form of Manchester United is, this is a team capable of winning big games. The Sunday’s clash against their city rivals is exactly this, a huge game for United. If they win they will be on course to return to the top 4 and will be seen again as a big team. In his pre-math press conference Mourinho said:
“We have to just think about the match, is difficult enough by an isolated event, if you want to put that match into the context of where we are where we can be. I want to play it as an isolated match, difficult match against difficult team but they think is a difficult match for them.”
Manchester City are scoring goals and winning games on a landslide. They have scored 33 goals so far this season and conceded only 4. I would be surprised if the Pep Guardiola’s side scores more than 100 goals by the end of the season. Compared to their record’s the Manchester united 19 goals scored and 18 conceded, should be enough for anyone to project that City are the most likely winner in this fixture. City have all their players available for selection. Kevin De Bruyne is not at his best at the moment, but City and would probably be on the bench. I don’t depreciate United’s team, but despite their excellent win in Torino during the midweek, this is a Premier League game and they aren’t good enough in the league this season.
Manchester City to win: 3:1
